New Cast Plant Shelfie Bookends Gloss White Seconds (As-Is)
Need more space for your plants? How about some truly functional planters? After years of making each bookend by hand myself, I’ve called in reinforcements to help meet demand! I worked with Portland based Mudshark Studios to create a plaster mold of my bookend design. This allows several to be cast at a time using slip (liquid clay). They are still handmade in Portland, just made a little differently. Once the bookends are removed from the molds, a human smooths our the seam lines, adds the hooks, and loads them into the kiln to fire. They are then glazed by hand, and fired again.
This batch was part of our first run of prototypes. Since they are still handmade, sometimes the back is slightly angled, or otherwise different somehow. But, hey! It’s handmade, so imperfections remind us that it’s made by real humans and variations will occur from one to the next.
**The bookends in this listing are a bit more imperfect than I’d like, so they are discounted accordingly. Imperfections include some warping on the backs, subtle glaze imperfections, and/or one of the hooks may poke through the inside a little. There are 5 pairs listed here, but it’s a bit of a mystery box situation, given the assortment of imperfections.
Each half has a drainage hole and once potted, is heavy enough to hold your books up for the ultimate plant shelfie. They also have a wire hook on the back to hang on the wall. Please be sure to hang on a stud, as soil and plants can become too heavy for just drywall.
Dimensions:
Interior max width- 5 ¼"
Exterior H: 5 ½" W: 8" D 4 ½"
