Plant Shelfie Bookends Collab with Adrienne Oates NOW CLOSED

from $5.00
Sold Out

Winner Announced SOON!

Adrienne Oates was one of my earliest cross country clay collaborations. We sent clay and pots back and forth in early 2021 to collaborate, and talk often about ideas and techniques for decorating ceramics. When I asked Adrienne to collaborate on this project, she requested that I send these bookends leather-hard (not fired and still malleable), so she could alter them.

She made an indent in the shape and added the mushrooms and texture before firing the bookends. She then uses epoxy to add mixed media elements, like the fern and butterflies. The result is this whimsical pair of Plant Shelfie Bookends, that has all the fairy garden magic vibes. Hang em on the wall, or use them as bookends. Either way, this one of a kind work of art will be a treasure in your home.

About the Raffle

We made these Plant Shelfie Bookends specifically to raise money for and awareness of Com-Fusion, the ceramics community center we are building in Portugal together. All the money raised will go to a savings account which will ultimately be used to pay for rent, ceramics equipment & materials, and all the things we’ll need to get this thing off the ground and hosting artists for classes, workshops, residencies and retreats. For me, this has been a dream my whole adult life (some twenty-five plus years). We already have the space for artist residencies secured, and are negotiating space for the community center! To start we’ll use Mariana’s existing space.

The Fine Print

  • No purchase necessary to participate- you can also enter by signing up for my email list. If you’re already on the list, just send me an email to let me know, and I’ll add your name with one entry.

  • Raffle will be open through August 29. Winner announced by September 5

  • Raffle open to US, Canada only.

How we make them

These are made from a 6” planter with attached saucer that Nicole throws on the potter’s wheel. She then cut the planter in half attach a slab back to each half, and voila- Bookends! Adrienne received the the bookends leather hard, so she could alter the shape and add the mushrooms. Embellishments were added after firing and set in resin.

Each half has a drainage hole and is heavy enough to hold your books up for the ultimate plant shelfie. They also have a wire hook on the back to hang on the wall (please hang on a stud).
