6" Monstera Planter Collab with Diana Adams Now CLOSED
When I talked with Diana Adams (aka SampleHAUS) about collaborating on a pair of Bookends, she had two questions:
Can you send them leather hard (this means the clay is not fired and still soft enough to carve)?
Is it crazy to ask you to send one of your Monstera Planters leather hard too, because I really want to carve one!?
My response: it’s crazy, but I’m crazy enough to try it!
Diana Adams, also known by her business name SampleHAUS, makes dope small batch pottery, such as her sought after planters and home accessories. Her work is inspired by bold, graphic, African patterns and bright colors. And she also does custom portraits of people and pets on her pottery under her sub brand Journey’sHAUS. She’s a busy lady keeping her online shop stocked, filling orders for West Elm and teaching workshops and attending markets.
I am so grateful Diana made time in her busy schedule to collaborate with me. She colored way outside of my Monstera lines on this one of a kind Sample Haus x WTW Monstera Planter, and I LOVE it! I hope you’ll love it too and take a chance on a $5 raffle ticket to help us meet our goals.
How we make them
Nicole throws a 6” planter with attached saucer on the potter’s wheel. She then sculpts and attaches a monstera leaf to the front of the planter. She sent this planter from Portland, OR to Long Beach, CA while it was still leather hard so DIana could paint and carve the surface in her signature style. This planter took quite the detour, traveling all the way to upstate NY by accident.
About the Raffle
We made this Monstera planter specifically to raise money for and awareness of Com-Fusion, the ceramics community center we are building in Portugal . All the money raised will go towards purchasing ceramics equipment & materials, and all the things we’ll need to begin hosting artists for classes, workshops, memberships, residencies and retreats. For me, this has been a dream my whole adult life (some twenty-five plus years). We already have the space for artist residencies secured, and are negotiating space for the community center! Can you help us secure the studio equipment?
